Some materials like mild or low alloyed steels need such rapid cooling rates which can only realised in wa-ter. However, plain tap water will evaporate on the hot surface during quenching (Leidenfrost phenomenon) resulting in reducing quenching speed with high risk of local pearlite formation.
The HYDRODUR additives restrain this phenomenon successfully resulting in very clean parts.
